I love that every mock draft has you guys picking Kailer Yamamoto. The anti-Chia pick.

I would go hard after Andre Burakovsky in Washington. Good player on the rise. Is a RFA that Washington will have trouble resigning and fitting in, they are definitely going to lose a few pieces in the off season. He has size, speed and offensive ability. He also played a year of junior with McDavid which is always a nice foot in the door.
I think a trade of the 22nd pick for Burakovsky would be a good starter, Edmonton might have to throw in a prospect or bottom 6 player. I believe he could be signed to a pretty nice bridge deal for 3-4 years (2.5mil?) and give us that time to see what we can become.

Not likely. With all those high cost players moving out, he's expected to take on a greater role on the team for a lower cost. Aside from Kuzy and Backstrom, he's probably the last forward they move.

No real qualms either way they go. I think I lean towards using the pick because even though it's no guarantee, we're gonna have to surround McDavid and Draisaitl with cheaper contracts down the road and we have a growing need for forward prospects. Can't always rely on college FAs to fill the holes.

Thinking about it, I think my preference would be to trade down to get a 2nd and another pick (either late second or early-mid 3rd). Find a team that really wants a player available at your pick (Foote, Brannstrom, etc) and bump down to grab Jokiharju or Rasanen and Robertson.

We need to keep the pick... there are other ways to parlay Eberle into something we need.

Apparently, he's basically the fittest guy there. He also outscored (by a wide margin) Patrick and Glass. Thankfully he's a smurf.

Actually, Josh Norris pretty much owned the combine. Yamamoto did well and was 1st in the VO2 test.

I know you're just being a dingus, but his draft history suggest he's just as- if not more- likely to pick smaller skill than big grit. He's prioritized skill over size with early picks including Hamill, Knight, Spooner, Seguin, Khoko, Donato and Pastrnak. Hell, even his"size" picks like Hamilton and Colborne were known as much for their skill.

Looking at his picks in Edmonton, it's clear he still values skill over size and seems to be slowly prioritizing skating ability, as well.

Same, though I'd also be open to DeHaan is light of Sekera's injury. If we could acquire him along with Petrovic or Pysyk from Vegas, then we could avoid signing Russell for the type of term that'll hurt the team long term.
